The Education for all Handicapped Children’s Act became the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. -
No Child Left Behind Act
The No Child Left Behind Act was passed. This helped improve the quality of special education programs at the state level by requiring statewide assessments and highly qualified, specially trained professionals to teach students with disabilities. -
Congress Amends IDEA
(Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) by calling for early intervention for students, greater accountability, and improved educational outcomes, and raised the standards for instructors who teach special education classes.
