Affair between US & France. Conflict began between the two & led to a war on the US. The French tried bribing the US & getting loans from the US. -
Louisiana Purchase
The land deal between the US & France. The United States paid an amount of money to form 827,000 square miles of land on the Mississippi River. -
Embargo Act
An act to get the US ships from leaving to foreign ports to stop trading will all foreign's. This is after America is faced with a war for trading with foreign countries. -
War of 1812
began because of Britain's restrictions against the US trade & America wanting to expand their territory. -
Treaty of Ghent
A peace treaty which ended the war of 1812. British & Americans both signed the Treaty of Ghent to declare peace. All territory was returned. -
Battle of New Orleans
British fought against New Orleans trying to capture their territory in hopes to get Louisiana from the US. American troops ended up defeating the British. -
Monroe Doctrine
A doctrine that states the old world & new world are both seperate & must remain with different systems. The US could no longer interfere with the other internal affairs.
