    Derrick rose was born October 4,1988. His mother is Brenda Rose. He has three brothers Dwayne, Reggie, and Allan.Rose was a very talented basketball player at a young age.

    By the time Rose enrolled in Simeon Career Academy college coaches were already looking at him. Depsite his reputation, he played freashman and JV basketball for the Wolverines.He wore number 25 in honor of Ben Wilson( a kid who played varsity who was murdred by a gang member during his senior year. Rose led the freshmans and sophomores to city championships with a record of 24-1.

    Rose accepted a scholarship to the University of Memphis tigers under John Calipari, after seeing him play a AAU game. Strong efforts were by Indiana Unversity and University of Illinois to sign Rose to their programs. Rose chose Memphis because of the school's history of putting people in the NBA. Rose chose number #23 due to the fact that #25 was retired by the school in honor of Penny Hardaway.

    Rose was selected first ovarall pick in the draft by the Chicago Bulls. Rose was selected to scrimmage for the U.S Olympic team. In mid-july, he played two games in the summer league, then he hurt his knee while driving to the lane.
