  • Canada/Britian Declares War On Germany

    On September 1st 1939 Germany and Slovakia attacked Poland, and thats when France, Brtitian, and the countries of the Commonwealth decided to stop Germany.
  • The Second Battle of Ypres

    In this battle the Germans intorduced a new weapon: chlorine gas. the front-line at the time were french troops and they were hit badly. the canadian troops replaced the french, and stopped the german advancement.
  • Battle of Somme

    The British launched a huge attack near the Somme river, the germans were prepared, it became a brutal battle for both sides. More than 24 000 of the 80 000 canadian soldiers were killed to gain just 545 kilometers of land.
  • Conscription Crisis

    After the brutal Battle of Somme, Canada needed to replace alot of the soldiers and very few volunteers replaced them, and the recruiting effort in Qeubec had failed.
  • French Cargo Ship Expolsion in Halifax

    Halifax was destroyed on the morning of december 6th 1917, "SS Mont-Blanc", a French cargo ship, loaded with huge amounts of wartime explosives, which accidentally collided with the "Norwegian SS Imo" in "The Narrows" section of the Halifax Harbour.
