    The members of the continental congress signed the declaration of Independence. A legal document that granted freedom to the thirteen American colonies from Great Britain. After the signing the document America broke all the connections with Great Britain.

    The Governor General of British North America Guy Carleton captured and destroyed the American ships that were under the command of American military officer Benedict Arnold. This was the first battle fought by the US Navy.

    The battle was fought between the American army of George Washington and the British army of Sir William Howe. The 'Redcoats' of the British army beat the American Rebels in the Patriots Force.

    British Lieutenant Colonel Archibald Campbell launched a surprise attack on American forces defending Savannah,Georgia. American Major General Robert Howe and his force was severely outnumbered so they decided to evacuate the city and withdraw from the combat.

    The city of Savannah,Georgia was captured by the Britishers and America joined forces with France to retake the city. The Americans and Britishers went in a war to take the control of Savannah.

    The event caused British Army general Charles Cornwallis army to surrender themselves at Yorktown because Charles was expecting supply ships from Great Britain which never arrived. So because of being outnumbered he surrendered.
