  • Albany Plan

    This was the first step in trying to form a centralized government even though the plan was never carried out.

    A group of fed up colonists boarded British ships carrying tea and threw it overboard.

    After the Boston Tea Party the British tried to regain rule over the colonists by making some "laws"
  • First Continental Congress

    In response to the Intolerable Acts the colonists formed the First Continental Congress as a sign of resistance.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second Continental Congress started the writing of the constitution.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The first military engagements in the war against the British rule.
  • Start of the American Revolution

    Fed up with British rule, the colonists begin fighting back against them in the start of what we call the American Revolution.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    In July of 1776 the Declaration of Independence was approved by Congress and was signed in August.
  • The End of the American Revolution

    The end of the revolution came with the signing of a peace treaty that made Americas independence official.
