    It had a magnitude of 9. The tsunami killed 20,000 people. Research shows that the main seismic source was faulting of the seafloor along the Mid-Atlantic tectonic plate. It happened on All Saints Day, which is a Christian festival that honors the Saints. Since cameras were not invented in 1755, this is a drawing of the damage the earthquake caused.

    Krakatoa had four explosions in only 4.5 hours. The tsunami caused from it killed 36,000 people. The last eruption was 10,000 times more powerful than the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. Shockwaves were registered all over the world, and causing massive tsunamis to form.

It also broke icebergs off the Sulzberger Ice Shelf in Antarctica.
