    This tsunami was caused by and earthquake and it ended up killing over 20,000 people. The height of this tsunami was around 23 feet tall and it was seen in the West Indies.
  • 1883 Eruption of Krakatoa

    1883 Eruption of Krakatoa
    On August 26, 1883, there was a violent explosion in the Krakatoa volcano in the Sundra Strait. THe top of the volcano collapsed into the ocean, causing a massive tsunami to emerge more than 35 feet tall. It killed more than 36,000 people and 165 villages.

    An earthquake struck near the Aleutian Islands that registered an 8.1 magnitude quake. Following this, a massive tsunami hit which killed about 160 people.

    This earthquake was along the lines of Okushiri's islands in Japan. It was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which then caused a tsunami, killing around 120 people.

    This earthquake was along the coast of Australia, which was rated at a 7.1 magnitude. It triggered a submarine landslide, causing a tsunami to kill more than 2100 people in Australia.

    This was a megathrust earthquake that resulted in a 9.1 magnitude rating. It killed an estimated 230,000 people in Indonesia.

    This earthquake registered an 8.1 magnitude rating. It was near the islands on Fiji. After the large earthquake, it casued a tsunami that killed about 200 people.
