    Thomas Jefferson makes a multi-million dollar purchase, and send Lewis and Clarke to go explore the new land.

  • War of 1812

    The US declares a second war on Britian for it's interference with trading in Europe

  • Abraham Lincoln Elected

    Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th Preseident in 1861

  • Civil War Begins

    The Civil War- A fight between the North and South over slavery- began on April 12, 1861, and ended on April 9, 1865

  • Gettysburg Address

    Abraham Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address in 1863. (“Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.")

  • Civil War Ends

    The Civil War- A fight between the North and South over slavery- began on April 12, 1861, and ended on April 9, 1865

  • Abraham Lincoln Death

    Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth

  • Barbed Wire

    Lucien Smith created the first batch of barbed wire

  • Type-Writer

    Christopher Latham Sholes invented the first practical typewriter, and introduced the same layout of key boards that is used to this day.

  • First Railroad System

    The first Railroad system was completed in 1869. It's completion marked easier and faster travel for Americans.
