Day in the life of a child with Turner syndrome

  • Julie wakes up for school

    Julie needs to be woken up for school as she has no concept of the time. Julie is only 11. She was diagnosed with Turner syndrome at birth.
  • Julie needs help having a shower and brushing teeth

    Julie needs help with all these actions as she cannot hold a toothbursh because her fingers are too short
  • Julie has an assisted electronic chair going down the stairs

    Julie needs help as she has not fully developed, therefore she is still not able to do the simplest of movements fluently
  • Julie eats breakfast

    Julie eats breakfast like a toddler as she can not yet hold the spoon properly. She gets assistance from mother
  • Julie gets dropped at school, only to be met by Michelle her carer

    Julie needs help with school, as she is not safe walking around by herself. This is because of her short fingers and her droopy eyelids, therefore she does not have the greatest of vision.
  • Julie at school

    As Julie is at school she is constantly being watched by teachers and her carer Michelle. No kids want to interact with her at recess or lunch as she is 'different'
  • Julie after school

    After school Julies mum takes her for her weekley check up to see how her growth and her everyday skills are going. Blood test is need afterwards
  • Julie at dinner

    Julie once again needs help eating at the dinner table, however, is able to participate in conversation as every 11 year old should
  • Bed time for Julie

    Julie is tucked into bed with no problems. Prior to going to bed she used the electronic chair to get up stairs and once again needed help with her toothbrush.
