  • Six Day War & its Aftermath

    The Six Day war broke out when Israeli took control over Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Yom Kippur War broke out on the Jewish Holiday in Israel in 1973 in response to the Six Day War
  • Palestine refuses to withdraw

    After Egypt and Israel made peace the Palestine Liberation Organization formed a plan to destroy Israel and replace it with a Palestine State. In order to achieve this they launched guerrilla attacks against Israel, from Jordan to Lebanon.

    Later on a rebellion by the name of Intifada took its course which led to an outcry of street violence among the citizens of the state. In response a war was started. The Oslo Accords ended the war but sparked tensions and distrust among one another.
  • Peaceful Agreement?

    In 1977 the president of the United States, Jimmy Carter, invited the presidents of Egypt and Israel to Camp David in order to get both sides to agree to a peace agreement in order to end the hostility. Both sides signed the treaty in 1978.
  • Removal of the Shah

    Shortly after the revolution, dozens of citizens believed that the shah of Iran had to be removed. Many believed this on their own but many were inspired by the words of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. The removal of the shah took place because of his closeness with the U.S. and how he believed Westernization would help benefit Iran. During this time the shah fled the country and eventually made it the the U.S. for medical treatment. In response, many people were discontented.
  • The Shah Returns

    Due to the discontent of the people Iranian Revolutionaries broke into a U.S. Embassy and took the place hostage alongside 66 citizens. They demanded that the Shah return to Iran to stand trial. As expected the shah returned to Iran but the U.S. Embassy remained under hostage until January 1981.
