    First use of the word "computer" was recorded
    The word was first recorded by an English writer. In his book, it meant someone who carried out calculations or computations. The word help its meaning until the middle of the 20th century.
  • Charles Babbage was the first person to design a fully programmable mechanical computer.

    Charles Babbage was the first person to design a fully programmable  mechanical computer.
    Babbage called the computer his analytical engine. He oved to work on the design, However, due to limited finances, Charles Babbgae wasn't able to finish the design himself.
  • Henry Babbage completed a simplified version of the analytical engine's computing unit.

    Henry Babbage completed a simplified version of the analytical engine's computing unit.
    Since his dad was unable to complete his design, Henry made a simplified version of his dad's design, otherwise known as the mill. In 1906, Henry gave a successful demonstration of the computer's use. In 1910 it was given to the science museum in South Kensington.

    The Atanasoff-Berry Computer (ABC) was commenced in 1937, and completed in 1941. It was the world's first electronic digital computer. It was more compact than all of it's earlier versions.

    It was invented by Konrad Zuse. He also invented an electromechanical computing machine called the Z3.
