    Created by Bill Lowe in 1981, the first personal computer from IBM made its appearance. The cost for this first home computer was $1,565. That may seem high but in comparison, computers just 20 years earlier were upwards of $9 million.

    The Smartmodem by Hayes allowed a command set to allow the computer to control the process of getting connected. This was the first in a long line of direct connect modems that did not need a external phone.

    The CD-ROM or Compact Disc Read Only Memory was fist available to the public in 1982. James Russell created the first CD back in 1966. It was then co developed by Sony and Phillips into what we know today.

    Apple is a great product but what I want to focus on is the fist use of a graphical user interface, or GUI. Created by Steve Jobs back in 1979 but fist available to the public in their 1984 Apple Macintosh home computer the GUI changed how we interface with a computer. No more DOS command lines to remember for the average user, plus you could now use a mouse as well.

    Designed by Masayuki Uemura, the NES is considered one of the most influential video game systems of all time. It offered a way for people to play popular arcade style games on the family TV. It featured a game cartridge slot and the first D pad controller.
