History of the Computer

  • The First Computer

    The First Computer
The first computer ever made was called the ENIAC. It was invented by Mauchly and Eckert. It was capable of being reprogrammed to solve large classes of numerical problems. It was made out of vacuum tubes, crystal diodes, relays, resistors, capacitors, and hand-soldered joints. This gave people a quicker and easier way to solve math problems, which was mostly what this computer could do. It was like a giant calculator. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ENIAC
  • Transistor

    Transistor
The inventing of the transistor was what caused computers to become smaller. Instead of using the vacuum tubes, they could use a transistor, which was smaller, and had less weight to it. It also lasted much longer than vacuum tubes, which kept people from having to change them all the time, less expensive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transistor
  • Computer Mouse & Keyboard

    Computer Mouse & Keyboard
The invention of the computer mouse and keyboard really helped shape was the computer is today. It now has a small monitor, the keyboard, and the mouse. The mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart. This made computers easier to use and more mobile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Engelbart#Career_and_accomplishments
  • Apple I

    Apple I
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created the first computer with a single-circut board that contained about 60+ chips. Though to make a working computer, peope that bought the circut board had to provide the case, power supply, keyboard, and a disply center. It made computers portable, but it was expensive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_I
  • Apple II

    Apple II
The Apple II was also invented by Jobs and Wozniak, which was the first highly successful microcomputer product. This new innovation had an audio casset, which was the first computer to have one, and it also had color graphics. It was still extremely expensive, but people were beginning to find more interest in the technology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_II
  • Apple's Lisa

    Apple's Lisa
Apple Computer Inc. created the Lisa, which was the first computer to to offer a graphical user interface service. It was soon midified to become the Macintosh XL. It offered multitasking and protected memory. This was actually portable, and technically the first "laptop" ever made. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Lisa
  • MacBook Pro

    MacBook Pro
Apple introduces the MacBook Pro, which had much better audio, video, graphics, and displays than all the other computers before it. It was what really sparked people to become interested in computers and got more people to buy the product. It was made out of a motherboard, it had a keyboard, but it needed a mouse provided. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP24?locale=en_US
