The failure of Apple's Macintosh Portable led to a complete redesign of their portable computer. They created three versions of the PowerBook (100, 140, 170), each version with better performance capabilities than its' previous model. They had built a built in trackball, which we later see evolve into what we now know as the "touch-pad," internal floppy, and arm rests. This design set the standard of typical laptop designs in the '90s.

Palm, Inc. was founded by Ed Colligan, Donna Dubiasky, and Jeff Hawkins. They created the first generation of Palm devices. It could be connected to a PC or Mac using ports that would sync to the computer. We see this technology used quite frequently now when we port our cellphones or cameras to our laptops to download/transfer data they may contain.
