John White was the leader of the colony, when he returned back to the colony after a supplies trip, he found the whole colony was gone. The only clue they had to the disappearance was the word "Croatoan"

    Jamestown in the colony of Virginia was the first permanent settlement in North America. It was established on May 4, 1607. It was the capital of the colony of Virginia for 83 years.

    The House of Burgesses was first established in the year 1619. At least once a year the members of the house would meet up with their royal governor to pass local laws and local taxation. King James the first tried to get rid of the house, however the people would not have it, so it stayed and they continued to meet up.

    The Mayflower set sail on September 6, 1620 for North America. It reached Cape Cod on November 11, 1620 and a few weeks later they sailed to Plymouth and began to settle. The Mayflower Compact bound the pilgrims of New England together.

    Connecticut was founded in the year 1636. The colony was founded by a man named Thomas Hooker. It was on the Atlantic coast of America. now present say Hartford. It was classified as a New England colony.

    Rhode Island was founded in 1636. It was founded by Roger Williams and others. Rhode Island was a major place for shipping and trading.
  • Maryland Toleration Act

    Maryland Toleration Act
    The Maryland Toleration Act was passed on April 21, 1649. It was a law demanding religious tolerance for Trinitarian Christians. It was appealed in October 1694.

    The Carolina colony was founded in 1663. King Charles the second gave the land to eight men who were known as the Lords Proprietors.

    The New York colony was founded in the year 1664, named after the Duke of York. The colony was first founded by the Dutch. New York was important in the fur trade business and later on in agricultural resources.

    Bacon's rebellion was an armed rebellion in Virginia. It was in the year 1676, led by Nathaniel Bacon. The purpose of the rebellion was to go against the rule of governor William Berkeley. William refused to retaliate against the Indians after they were attacked multiple times.

    The Pennsylvania colony was founded on March 4, 1681. William Penn was the founder. It was part of the Middle Colonies. William wanted the colony to be a sanctuary for the Quakers, where they can worship freely. King Charles the second gave him a royal charter to do this.

    The Salem Witch trials began in spring of the year 1692, in Salem Village, Massachusetts. The trials began when a group of young girls said that they were possessed by the devil and a group of women were witches. During the time of the trials 19 people were hung, and many accused.

    The Great Awakening was a Protestant revival that spread across Europe and British America. This occurred through the 1730's and 1740's. This gave people the need for salvation from Jesus Christ. The Enlightenment period was when people celebrated the use of reasoning.

    The Albany Plan was suggested by Benjamin Franklin at the Albany Congress in Pennsylvania. The plan was to unify the thirteen colonies and have them under one ruling government. The plans was passed by the Albany Congress, then it was sent back to the British, who rejected it because they saw no need for it.

    The French-Indian War was also known as the "Seven Year's War". The war started in 1756 and lasted till 1763. The reason the war started is because both the French and the British wanted to expand their territory west of the Appalachian Mountains.

    The Proclamation of 1763 was made on October 7th. King George the 3rd issued it. It forbade the settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains, because of the Seven Year's War.

    The Great Migration occurred from years 1916 to 1970. It was the relocation of over 6 million African Americans. The reason many were driven out of their own lives were the harsh segregation laws and the unfair economic wages.
