  • Founding of Jamestown

    Jamestown was the first English settlement in the Americas. It allowed the travelers from Europe to have the freedom they have been searching for. The people arrived in the end of april and finally established the town on the 14th of May.
  • House of Burgesses

    This ended up to be the first legislative assembly in America. This House created what is now a great representative democracy.
  • Founding of Plymouth

    Plymouth was named by Captain John Smith sometime in 1620. The pilgrams landed on the shore and decided that this was a good enouigh -place to settle. They ended up learning how to farm for the natives that livd there. These are the peopl that created Thanksgiving.
  • Pequot War

    This war was between the Pequot Indian tribe against the english settlers. Over 700 indians were taken into captivity or killed. All of this was over who would get to have the land. It took 3 centuries for the indians to regain their political power again after this incident.
  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut

    The orders explain how the government was set up in the Connecticut Colonies. This order gave men a lot more voting rights and made it possible for a majority of the men in the colonies to run for elective positions.
  • Toleration Act of 1649

    This was a law that required religious tolerance of hate speech in the colonies. This Act help protect religous freedom in the United States of America. Trinitarian Christians were allowed freedom of worship due to this Act.
  • Navigation Acts

    This law made it so that England and the colonies were not allowed to make trades. The reason for doing so was that they wanted the colonies to develop more and become able to stand on their own.
  • King Philip's War

    This was sometimes called the first indian war. This war was also over the natives landed. The Indians wanted to keep their land but the colonist wanted it as well. On August 12, 1676, Philip was killed by Puritan rangers and Native Americans.
  • Bacon's Rebellion

    This was a retaliation against the government ruler of Virginia. The people stated that he was not considering their safety into his governing, and they did not approve of that. This was the first uprising in the colonies.
  • Dominion of New England

    All this was, was the administrative union in the colonies in the New England section of America. It ended up not working out because of the fact that the people wanted their traditional rights.
  • Salem Witch Trials

    These trials happened because the colonist believed that some of their people were using witch craft. These people that were accused were normal hung in town. The puritans , who were very superstitous, thought the rest of the colonist were acting strange, and they believed the cause was due to witchcraft.
  • Great Awakening

    During this time period there were scattered events that had to deal with religous revival. The Great Awakening helped with the creation of free press, and how shared information should be unbiased. Many African Americans found religion during this time.
  • Peter Zenger Trial

    During this trial, Zenger's lawyer argued the fact that he should not be charged for seditious libel becuase what he wrote about was all true. He was explaining how Cosby misused his Governmental powers.
  • Stono Rebellion

    This was a large slave uprising that took place in South Carolina. Their leader Jemmy lead 20 men across the Stono river during this uprising. Therefore creating the name of the rebellion. All because of this uprising slaves were no longer able to have movement, education, and assembly.
