  • Elijah McCoy

    Elijah McCoy invented the Lubricating Cup in 1872 when he was working on the Michigan Central Railroad, because he was the oilman, and he wanted something that would keep the trains from seizing up. He became famous for his invention because of the rise of technology. His invention helped keep trains moving, without having to stop and oil down all of the gears.
  • Levi Strauss

    Levi Strauss, along with Jacob Davis, invented blue jeans in 1872, between their homes in Reno, Nevada and San Francisco, CA. Their idea was such a success because of technology and the rapid growth of economics, because during the gold rush, workers and miners pants wouldn't hold up while working. So Levi invented jeans that would hold up to their use, and the riveted pockets helped hold the pants together. Overall, the pants met the needs of all men and boys across the nation.

    John Froelich invented the first gasoline pwoered tractor in the year 1892 in Iowa. He created the tractor because the typical steam engine thresher was too dangerous to deal with in the wide open fields. The steam engine thresher would start on fire if a spark caught the entire engine on fire.

The innovation was successful due to the rapid economic growth becasuse the typical steam engined thresher would catch on fire too often, and the gasoline powered engine was able to do multiple tasks without needing different equipment, and it fit the farmers needs.
  • Chewing Gum

    Thomas Adams Sr. invented chewing gum in New York, when he popped a piece of surplus stock (chicle) into his mouth, and he enjoyed to flavor. He was introduced to chicle by Santa Anna, Mexico's leader, who was defeated by the Texans. The invention was a success due to rapid economic growth, since it was something that kids could chew on for long periods of time and not have to worry about it going away
