The Wilmot proviso took place because the US had just won the Mexican-American war and had new land so David proposed to prohibit slavery in the land. during this time they proposed their idea to prohibit slavery in new territories but it failed. During this time the US supreme court got involved and decided that United States Supreme Court upheld slavery in United States territories, denied the legality of black citizenship in America, and declared the Missouri Compromise to be unconstitutional. In john Browns raid john brown and his crew along with the US military where involved. This happened because john brown wanted to revolt against slavery and expected the slaves to rise up. During this event john brown was going to raid the military supplies but was then stuck when the military surrounded him and only had a few men. This impacted history by showing that he was willing to go that far for slavery and that they needed to up there security. This happened in Harpers Ferry, Virginia.
