  • Uncle Tom's Cabin

    A Novel written by Harriet Beecher. It shows the evil of Slavery. Many Northerners read it and the Southerners said it was full of Lies.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    A state Civil War between anti-slavers and pro-slavers. At least 200 people were killed.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott was a Slave that lived in the free territory with his owner. When his owner died he had an abolitionist file a law suit for his freedom. He lost because they said he was properety and couldn't sue.
  • Lincoln-Douglas Debate

    A debate between Lincoln and Douglas.Douglas believed in deciding slavery by popular sovereignty. Lincoln believed that slavery shouldn't be allowed to spread into territories.
  • Harper's Ferry

    A failed raid led by John Brown. Him, 5 blacks, and 13 whites tried to raid Harper's Ferry. They planned to start a slave revolt but no slaves revolted. His men died and he was arrested by Robert E. Lee and later hanged.
  • South Carolina Secedes from the Union

    South Carolina secedes from the Union. Followed by Mississippi, Flordia, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.
  • Lincoln's 1st Inauguration

    Lincoln was inaugurated as the 16th President of the US.
  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    A bombardment of Fort Sumter near Charleston,South Carolina.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    A turning point in the Civil War. Resulting in the Union's win it took out more then 1/3 of Lee's men.
  • Gettysburg Address

    A speech by Lincoln on the site of the Civil Wars most gruesome battle.
  • Lee Surrenders

    Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrenders after Union forces take vital supplies from them at Appomattox Court.
  • Lincoln Assassinated

    President Lincoln was watching a play at Ford's Theater in Washington D.C when he was shot by John Wike Booth.
