    The North-West Ordinance is considered to be the greatest achivement of the congress of confederation. It increased the settlement of the states we now know as; Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. This opened up the original ordanance set by Tomas Jefferson in 1784.

    3/5 Compromise was an agreement between northern and southern states reached during the continental convention of 1787 in philidelphia. This made it so only three fiths of the slaves where counted for, for taxational perposes.

    The Cotton Gin was invented by a mass producer of cotton named Eli Whitney. This caused the demand of slaves to increase rapidly. The Cotton Gin is used to seperate the ccotton fibers from the seeds, maiking the production of cotton easier.

    In 1820 Missouri was applying to become a slave state, but the north didnt want Missouri to do that because then the number of slave/free states would be unequal. instead of this being a major conflict the north just decided to make Maine a free state and let them make missouri a slave state.
