The cotton gin was made by Eli Whitney. This took seeds out of cotton and made it alot easier to produce cotton. -

Missiouri became a slave state and Maine became a free state. Also the 36' 30 line was created, to slove problems about future states. -

The compromise of 1850 alowed Califoninia to become a free state. Aslo it ended the slave trade in Washingot, DC. New states could be slave or free states by popular soverighty. Lastly it added a new fugitive slave law. -
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Uncle Tome's Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. This book was about slaves and what their life was like. It was very poplular and mad poeple hate salvary more. -
Kansas- Nebraska Act
The north wanted the trans-west railroad to go up the north east cost. In echanchange for have the railroad there they rises the 36' 30 line. Also was slavery a state or national issue? Thsi eventully lead to Bleeding Kansas. -
Dred Scott
Dred Scott tried to sue Sanford, his owner, for his freedom. Sanford had brought him into a free state. The court claimed he is not a citizen so he can't sue. Aslo the court said he is porperty and the court can't do anything to poeple property. -
John Brown
John Brown lead his followers to Hapers Ferry to rebel against slavery. This was the frist that had both blacks and whites.
