    Andrew assisted the organization SCLC work places and taught children strategies to fight for rights, but in a nonviolent way. Later on he also assisted Martin Luther King in his work in SCLC.     In 1956 Georgia changed their state flag. This flag was a confederate flag.
  • Sibley Commission

    Sibley Commission
    Griffin Bell ordered schools not to be segregated anymore, and be intregrated. This means blacks and whites were now able to go to school together. Was named after John sibley, who was the head of commission.. They found out 60% of Georgians would rather shut down schools than integrate. An effect of this was white people making private schools
  • SNCC

    The student nonviolent coordination committe let black and white studnets mett each other for the first time. Most people did not like this committee, but this was another step in the civil right movement. One of the major civil rights organization. Mostly contained high school and college students.     Hunter and Holmeds were 2 studnets that were granted the priviledge to go to UGA, one of the many intregrated schools is the south. Hunter and Holmes were 2 very smart men, they were at the top of their classes at the time. Hamilton Holmes is best known for desegregating Georgia's university's. Before they could attend, they were denied by the school.

    In Albany Georgia there was a movement happeing here by the SNCC, and the NAACP. Both of these group were fighting for the same thing, equal rights. After the SNCC left, the country removed all segregation laws.

    This one of the biggest political ralliies for human rights. This demanded civil and economic rights for African Americans. Martin Luther King made his speech here ''I Have A Dream.''
