Scott v. Sanford
Dred Scott a former slave relocated to a free state and he sued the federal government. The federal government said even though he was free he was not a citizen and does not have rights. -
Reconstruction (1865-1877)
The reconstruction era was after the civil war when the federal government made new laws and amendments specific to the slaves that were now free. Also the reconstruction of the government and the people. -
