  • Forced busing

    In the united States, people assign certain people to certain schools based on race,color sex and religion. Brown V. made a decision to declare segregation in schools unconstitutional.
  • Rosa Parks arrested

    A woman named Rosa Parks was sitting in the front of a bus in 1955, a time when segregation was a problem. Rosa refused to give up her seat when a white person asked her to move. After that Rosa had got arrested. Risa parks wanted to desegregate thebuses.
  • Montgomery bus boycott

    A campain that was agianst raciel segregation on buses in Montgomery Alabama. This happened shortly after Rosa Parks (African-American woman) was arrested. MLK started to boycott buses, this continued for more than a year.
  • Governer Farbus blockades school

    Orval Farbus was the 36th governer of Arkansas, he served from 1955 to 1967. Orval had a stand against desegregation of the Little Rock schoo. Farbus brought national guard to prevent black students from going into a white school.
  • Woolworth's lunch counter

    A protest of civil rights movement happened when 4 African American students sat at the "white's only" lunch counter. The boys refused to leave. This lasted 6 months, more and more kids did it. Sit-in's to end segregation spread across the world and became desegregated.
  • Freedom Riders bus burned

    The freedom riders were civil rights activitist. The freedom riders were attacked and beaten going to Alabama. Americ ans were angry becuase of the African Americans protesting, so they burned the freedom riders buses.

    A man with the name Micheal Harrington wrote a book about poverty. Micheal was a intellectual and political writer. Micheal was also a political activist, political theorist, and radio commander of Democratic socialist of America.

    Demonstrators gathered peacefully when Martin Luther King led a campaign to attack the cities segregation. On april 12th MLK had got arrested in Burningham Alabama becuase of violating the "anti-protest injuction." While MLK was in jail, he wrote a letter.

    Martin Luther King wrote a letter to a lot of white Christian churchs'. MLK was a Christian himself. The letter defends racism. He wnated to encourage the church to support his fight.

    Martin Luther King spoke about the dream he had, the dream to end racism. In Washington D.C. MLK spoke about civil and economic rights. Thousands of people came to hear his dream. It was one of the biggest political rallie in United States history.
  • "i have a dream" speech

    The "i hava a dream" speech is a public speech that Martin Luther King spoke to end racism. He spoke this while he was on th stand in Washington D.C. This speech was recieved to 250,000 civil rights supporters.
  • Kennedy assasinated

    On november 22, the 35th president of the U.S was assasinated in Dallas TX. After a ten month investigation, people believed Lee Harvey Oswald shot Kennedy in the head. John was in a car with his wife when this happened.
  • Johnson becomes president

    Lyndon B Johnson became the 36th president after president John F Kennedy was killed. Lyndon was flew in the same day of Kennedy's assasination. Lyndon B Johnson had a vision to create a "great society" for Americans.
  • 24th Amendment

    The 24th amendment prohibited requiring poll tax for voters in federal elections. This amendment prevents African- Americans and poor whites to vote. The amendment was ratified in 1964.
  • Civil Rights Bill

    The government made a law in 1964 that outlawed discrimination. For example, segregation was illegal in schools. Also work facilities.
  • Malcom x

    Malcom x was an American Muslim minister and a human rights activist. Malcom x died while giving a speech in New York. He died on february 21.
  • Voting act rights 1965

    An actto prohibit raciel discrimination when people with color vote. This act was signed by Lyndon B. Johnson while the civil rights movement was happening. In the U.S department of justice's opinion, the act is the most effective piece of civil rights in the country.
  • Watts Riot

    Watts Riot were race riots that happened in Watts neighnothood of Los Angeles. This happened from August 11th to 17th, 1965. Within 6 days of fighting, 34 deaths, 1,032 injuries, 3,438 arrests, and over $40 million in damaged property happened.
  • MLK assinination

    MLK died on April 4th, 1968, in Memphis TN.
