Little Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine were a group of nine black high schoolers enrolled at the racially segregated Little Rock Central High School in 1957.
The Brown v. Board of Education case that went to Supreme Court declared all laws establishing segregated schools to be unconstitutional, and it called for the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation. After this occurred the NAACP attempted to register black students in the south.

- African Americans weren't getting equal treatment as whites, and they got very annoyed about that. The thing that bothered African Americans the most was the segregation in the cafes, restaurants. They wanted to so something about it, so they started the sit ins.

It was taking place at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

There were 250,000 people who went this March
The reason why this was important was because it made many people not be as racist to black people. -

Went to Texas State University Besides from the White House, Lyndon B. Johnson grew up and lived in Texas. Lyndon was the 36th president. He was born on August 27th. He grew up in Texas. His first career was as a teacher. Interestingly, he was almost killed in World War 2. He died on January 22, 1973. -
Murder of Students
Michael Schwerner organized a black boycott and Sam Bowers got upset and told members of KKK to kill him. Michel Schwerner, Andrew Goodman, James Chaney were recruited for a CORE investigation on a church burning in Neshoba. As they were leaving the town a police officer that was a member of KKK noticed him.
