The term Jim Crow came around in the south around 1865. This term referred ti tge bad conditions that African Americans lived in after emancipation.These laws were passes in order ti duscrunubate and segrigate against blacks.

Poll taxes started around the same time as Jom Crow laws in 1965 poll taxes were putting a price on a vote. That means that in order to vote you had to pay a certain amount of money. This was essentially put in palce mostly in southern states to keep Arican Americans from voting, poll taxes were outlawed with the ratification of the 24th amendment on January 23, 1964

Literacy Tests were designed to keep anyone exept the rich white people from voting. Literacy tests were gived to people who werent often able to pass because they were uneducated and poor.
