Christopher Columbus was born to a middle class in between August 26 and October 31 in 1451. His parents were Domenico Colombo and Susanna Fontanarossa. His siblings were Bartholomew Columbus, Bianchinetta Columbus, Giacomo Columbus, Giovanni Pellegrino Columbus.

He started sailing in the 1470’s. Christopher Columbus went to places for trading such as England and Northern Europe. He also might have gone to Iceland.

Christopher Columbus met his brother, Bartholomew, in Lisbon during 1479. Afterward, he got married to Filipa Moniz Perestrelo and settled there. His wife died in 1485 and after her death, Christopher and his son moved to Spain.

For a while Christopher Columbus pursued the Spanish and Portuguese kings but, in the end, they never agreed to his plans. Eventually, he was noticed by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand and they funded the voyage. After that, he went to find an all-water route to Asia on August 3, 1492.

On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus landed on an Island in the Bahamas and he called it San Salvador. He adventured around and brought items back to Spain, thinking that he was in Asia. He actually never set foot in North America so he didn’t really discover America.

Christopher Columbus went on his second voyage in September 1493. There were 17 ships and almost 1200 men. He went towards the west to establish colonies for Spain.

In May 1498 Christopher Columbus went on his third trip. He left Spain with six ships and was heading towards Hispaniola. When he made it to land he landed on an island called Trinidad.

In 1502 he had his fourth voyage and he went back to Hispaniola. He set sail again that year and he landed in Central America. He reached Panama and hen he was there he even found some gold, but he was forced off of the island by the local people.

He faced a lot of problems with things like his ship and his crew. He sailed back to Spain in 1504 because of that. He then settled with his son in Seville.

Christopher Columbus died on May 20, 1506. He died from congestive heart failure. He was 55 years old at the time.
