    In 1476, Christopher could have very easily died. His ship that he was riding in to battle in Portugal, was hit and sank. From there he swam to safety (the nearest shore.)

    In 1479 Christopher Columbus got married to Felipa Perestrello e Moniz. She was a member of her, impoverished noble Portuguese family. Her parent was Bartolomeu Perestrelo, no record is record on her other parent.

    In 1480, Christopher and his wife had their first kid, a boy. His name was Diego Columbus. Diego started off the only child, but later on, he got another brother.

    Christopher´s wife died in 1485. He then got married to Dona Beatriz Enriquez de Arana, in 1486. Christopher moved to Spain after his first wife died and found his second wife.

    Again, on August 14th, 1488 he had another son with name of Ferdinand Columbus. This was with his new wife. This was the youngest one between the two children. His brother was born earlier in 1480.

    From 1492-1493 he set out on a ship to find out about the world. While he was out he found America and headed back to Spain. When he got back he told everyone about the ¨New world¨ (America.)

    In 1498, Christopher was paid again by spain, to go on a third voyage. So he started his third voyage. He discovered South America, the people of Spain were very happy when he told them the news.

    On April 2nd, 1502 Christopher had his last voyage. He ended up in Mexico, where he then headed back. When he got back he had to tell the people of Spain there was no success and he ended in Mexico.

    On May 5th, 1506 Christopher was pronounced dead in Valladolid. He was in the court house when he died. They then figured out he died of congestive heart failure.
