    Xia Dynasty

    First to establish a government in ancient China. Historias argue if this dynasty actually existed because there are no records referring to the Xia Dynasty. Yu the Great was the founder. He overcame a great flooding, and was worshiped as lord of the harvest. he also established a central government with 9 provinces to make it more manageable. Again, much of this is myth.
  • Period: 1600 BCE to 1050 BCE

    Shang Dynasty

    Tang overthrew the Xia dynasty, making him the founder of the the Shang dynasty. He centered his government for the people and the country say much stability which led to numerous cultural advances, such as industrialized bronze casting, the calendar, religious rituals, and writing. The stability lasted 600 years until they lost the "mandate of heaven" to rule.
