Chasing Lincoln's Killer Timeline

  • Booth Shoots Lincoln

This event is important because if it hadn't happened, there wouldn't be a book about it! Lincoln would've lived on, and thier lives would be (more or less) normal.
    --Fake Deringer Bullet--
This object relates to the subject because Booth shot Lincoln with a Deringer. The bullet went into Lincoln's head in the left, on an angle and through the brain, and rested behind Lincoln's right eye.
  • Abraham Lincoln Dies

This event is important because the manhunt never really started much until this happened. Lincoln's death let the manhunters give thier full attention to the manhunt. --Hair--
After Abraham died, Edwin Stanton took a lock of Lincoln's hair. He gave it to Mary Jane Wells, who had helped nurse Willie Lincoln until he died.
  • Atzerot Accidentaly Reveals himself

This event is important because otherwise, Atzerot would've probably escaped Washington. If he had done this, the manhunters may have never found him.
  • Dana Ignores an Important Tip

This event is important because as a result, Booth and Herold got a better chance of surviving. If Lieutenant Dana had checked out the tip, he probably would've caught Booth and ended the manhunt.
  • The Manhunters Investigate the Mudd Residentce

This event is important because the manhunters are finally following Booth's path. This is also when the liutenant thinks that Mudd is guilty of something.
  • Lincoln's Funeral

This event is important because the entire nation mourned the loss of thier beloved leader. People could wait hours to see the open casket. --Casket--
This object relates to the subject because Lincoln was wrapped in an American flag and placed in a plain casket. After his funeral, he was buried in Springfield.
  • Atzerot is Arrested

This event is important for two reasons. The first is that Atzerot confessed about everything he knew, which helped the manhunters. The second is that with both of Booth's accomplices captured, the manhunters put new energy into the manhunt.
  • Booth and Herold wait in the Pine Thicket for Another Day

This event is important for reasons you may expect. It gave the manhunters another day to catch up to Booth.
  • Booth and Herold Set Sail for Virginia (Again)

This event is important because if Booth and Herold hadn't realized they were heading the wrong way and turned back, they might have been rowing a lot longer than they did. After a while, they'd probably be captured. --Rowboat--
This object relates to the subject because Booth and Herold sailed on a rowboat. At first, Booth and Herold went North instead of West, and they had to stop at land. They never reached Virginia until the next day.
  • Booth & Herold Meet the Soldiers and Cross the Rappahannock

This event is important because the soldiers helped Booth and Herold cross the Rappahannock. The soldiers also helped them find somewhere to rest. ---Toy Soldiers--
The object relates to the subject because Booth and Herold met 3 Confederate soldiers who were happy to help the assassin. After they crossed the Rappahannock, the soldiers also found a place for them to rest for the night.
  • Lafayette Discovers that Booth is in Virginia

This event is important because if Lafayette hadn't been looking for clues, then the manhunters wouldn't have discovered Booth had crossed the Potomac until it was too late. Booth and Herold might have evaded capture.
  • The Cavalry Arrives in Virginia

This event is important because the Cavalry is catching up to Booth! Soon, they will reach the barn Booth and Herold are in,
  • Booth is Shot and Dies

This event is important because the manhunt had ended. All of the assassin's accomplices had been captured, and Booth was captured (and died). --Farmhouse--The object relates to the subject because Booth was shot in (and Harold surrendered in) a farmhouse. The soldiers set the barn on fire, and one soldier shot Booth, when he was about to draw his weapons.
