    He urged that California is a free state and the fugitive slave law. They both were conflicting over who gets California. Making them itchy to fight for what they thought was right.

    Some finally saw what the south was doing to the slaves. Making the south look bad. Making them extremely mad at the north.
  • California Land

    California Land
    The north wanted California to be a anti- Slave state and the south wanted it to be a slave state, but if either state got it to be on their side, it wouldn’t be fair or equal. Making them both want it because of the upper hand opportunity.

    Free soil party believed in no slaves and the south wanted their candidate to win the election, but the north had the most percentage of votes, which raised tension between the two sides.
  • Fugitive Slave Act

    This new act lets the southerners to come take away free slaves from the north and take them back, some weren't even guilty, but the north couldn't do anything about it becuase if they were caught helping the slaves there were consequences. They wanted that to change and they will fight for it.

    Exposed the south for what they really were. Terrible people treating other people like property. Making the south look bad, and they did not like that. Leading to arguments.

    Both North and South rushed to get people to nebraska and kansas because whoever had the most population had the land. Making them rush to get the most people to the land. A lot of people that disagree with each other in one state did not make for a friendly place to live.

    Lincoln ran it. They did not want slavery to spread farther into the west and the south wanted it to happen. Which helps the tension rise between the north and south.

    Buchanan receives presidency, but not only that. Our citizens had so different point of views that people of the Know nothing party just would get up and leave from the hall. Making the tensions rise between the two.

    The north and south were talking bad about each other Politically. This led to fist fights and Preston Brooks beat Sumner up in the Senate house. Causing more violence.

    John Brown captured a huge weapons fort in the south and he thought he would let all slaves loose to freedom, but not a single slave helped him and finally they got either shot down or hung if they surrendered.

    No one could agree on who they wanted to be president, the democrats even had to split in two. Which the whole conflict here was who was the had the material to be a president and people were arguing about who it was, and Lincoln had the stuff.
