Dredd Scott Case
Court case where a slave (Dredd Scott) tried to sue for his freedom the supreme court ruled that he did not have the same rghts as citizens did becasue he was a slave and also that the missouri compromise (which he argued he was free becuase he lived above the 36 30 line as a slave made him a free man) was unconstitutuional -
Harper's Ferry
abolitionist John Brown led a raid on a federal arsenal in Virginia in an attempt to arm slaves & rebel. his raid failed & he was executed for treason. The North declared him a hero, & the South thought of him as a terrorist of some sort. -
