  • Missouri Compromise of 1820

    It was an expansion of slavery into the new western territories. Because half of the country has to be slave free and half needed slaves. After the arguement they solved that Maine is free and Missouri is the slave state.
  • Wilmot Proviso

    Wilmot Proviso
    It was a way of ending war, the mexican American war, with a way of legislation. They had wanted to prevent slavery territories. But it was failed to be passed.
  • Compromise of 1850

    It was to make California a free state and Washington a slave free state. And to not have to pass laws from Mexican session. They did this because they had wanted to keep balance in congress for slavery. It was the last great compromise.

    Which was what made slave owners hunt down slaves who escaped the north. It was because they had gone against slave rights. (Uncle Toms cabin critized it)

    It was a term used to describe the period of Kansas Territory. Because the Kansas-Nebraska act over turned the Missorui compromise use of boudnries between slave and free territory. They used the principle of popular sovereighty and decreeded residents that would determine if an area became free of slaves.

    It was an act that let settlers in the teo territories to decide for themselves whether or not to permit slavery. It was because it was the period of compromise that started to unraval, Extra to this: Popular sovereighty: People in the a territory would decide whether that are should have laws.

    It had all started because Dred Scott wnated freedom and he had to fight against others for that. Because he had been a slave and had returned to a slave state. He did not like that i guess so thats why he asked for freedom

    Linncoln challenged senator Stephan Douglas, autthor of the Kansas--Nebraska act to a series of debates. Because they had wanted a seat in the senate.
