There was states that did not let people own slaves. That was the north that had no slaves and the south did. South had slaves to work on the white people's farms. -
The Missouri Compromise
It was about if Missouri was a southern state or a Northern State. They ended up being a slave state. Then it let Maine come in to the union as a free state. -

The white people made speeches that would get other people to think that they were bad. The African - Americans are people who are the slaves, but they are trying to be free. -
The Underground Railroad
The Railroad is not underground or a railroad. It is a way to get out of the south and try to get to the north. It was dangous becasue if you got caught the person that helped then would get killed. -
Fugitive Slavery Act
It is for the slaves that ran. They run and if someone finds the slave the person that owned the slave would give the person money. -
Dred Scott
Dred Scot ended up in the Suprem Court. He brought up that Afircan blood can not be an American citizen. He denyed citizenship and prevented the Missouri Compromise in 1820. -
Raid on Harpers Ferry
John Brown was a person that did not like slavery and he killed people that was for the slavery. They took over a place with a lot of guns and that once they took it all over they made it a fort for them. -
States' Rights
They were fighting about which state should be free and not be free. Kansas had a fight about if they should be free or not. That was the same with Missouri but they choosed to be a non free state. -
The Election of Abraham Lincoln
He was the first member of the Republican Party. The people did not think that he was going to win. He tried to stop the slavery. -
South Carolina Secedes
They left the union because they did not want to be a part of the U.S.A. they did not want to deal with it.
