The Proclamation of 1763
The Proclamation of 1763 was sighed by King George III of England. This ban any English settlement west of the Appalachian mountains. The proclamation required that those who already settled in those regions to return east to ease tension with the Native Americans. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act increased the duties on imported sugar and other items.Some of the other items were textitles,coffe,wines,and indigo.This act decreased the tax that the colonist paid on molasses. -
The Stamp Act
The British Parliament made the Stamp Act to help pay for the British troops on duty in the colonies during the Seven Years War.This meant that the colonist had to pay tax on all papers and official documents in the American colonies.The colonist were not very happy about this. -
The Quartering Act
The Quartering Act ban British Soldiers from being in there homes that were private. -
The Townshend Act
The Townshend Act was named after Charles Townshend. The Townshend Act was a series of laws made by the British government. This law placed taxes on imports of paper,paint,lead,glass,and tea. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a big fight that happened on March,5,1770,on King Street in Boston.It started as a street fight between American colonist and a British soldier but quickly turned into a bloody mess.Five of the colonist died and others were hurt. -
Boston Tea Party
On December 16th, 1773, a group of men dressed as Mohawk Indians to disguise themselves. They called themselves the "Sons of Liberty".The men dumped forty-five tons of tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Boston Port Act
The British closed the port of Boston and said that the cities citizens must pay for all the tea they dumped into the harbor. That's nearly 1 million dollars worth in today's money.Since the port was closed the colonist could not get hay to feed their starving horses. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were laws by British Prime Minister Lord North. The Intolerable Acts were enacted in 1774 in response to the Boston Tea Party. The laws were meant to be a punishment to the Massachusetts colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
