    All slaves had to return to their masters. Anyone helping a slave is free would be sent to prison for six months. Congress made it illegal to assist a Fugitive slave.

    The book sold a lot of copies. Many people joined the abolitionists cause they figured out how hard it was being a slave.

    The Supreme court ruled that he was property and couldn't sue. they ruled that it was unconstitutional.

    He was the only candidate against slavery. He won without a single vote from the south which pushed them south to succeed. Lincoln’s election pushed the nation to the brink of war.
