Uncle Tom's Cabin was a book written by Harriet Beacher Stowe that told the brutality and honesty of slavery in the south. It was a main cause of the Civil War because it showed abolitionists in the north what slavery was really like and that angered them. -
Underground Railroad
the Underground Railroad was a network of secret passages and safe houses in the Untied States to help slaves escape to Canada to become free. It led to the Civil War because it caused the loss of of thousands of slaves. -

A series of political confrontations between the pro-slavery people and the anti-slavery people, it helped lead to the Civil War because the state of Kansas had to decide if they wanted to be a free or slave state and it caused violence. -
Dred Scott Decision
A legal case in which the Supreme Court ruled that Dred Scott was not entitled to his freedom even though he resided in a free state. This showed that no slaves can earn their freedom when they live in a free state. -

Confederates decided to secede from the United States because Abraham Lincoln wanted States Rights and this would have majority of people choosing whether slavery should be allowed or not and it will allow slaves to be free and there will no longer be slavery.
