  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    Missouri was going to be slave state. Main is a free state. Drew an imaginary line across the Lousiana Purchas. North of the line is banned of slavery. This had not settled the future of slavery.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    Admiited California to the Union. New Mexico and Utah territories to decide about slavery. It also ended slave trade. They wouldn't be bought and sold in Washington, DC. It had a strong fugitive slave act. Northerners didn't want the act. Southereners thought it didn't do anything for their escaped property.

    Kansas- Nebraska Act
    This Compromise had two new territories. It also abolished the Missouri Compromise. It was called popular sovereignity or rule by the people. Northerners were scared by slavery marching. John Brown invaded Pottawtomie. Preston Brooks attacked Sumner. Southereners applauded.

    Dred Scott Decision
    Dred Scott was a slave. He wanted to win his freedom. He isn't a citzen in the United States. He is property to his slaveholder. Southerners were delighted. Northerners were stunned and enraged by the court's ruling.
  • Election of !860

    Election of !860
    Lincoln was wlcted president. It was an odd victory. The Southerners thought that Congess would abolish slavery. They seceded from the Union.
  • Attack on Fort Sumter

    Attack on Fort Sumter
    This was a fedrel fort in the Charleston HArbor.Confedrets caused the issue. The defenders took down the American flag and replaced it with a white flag of surrender. It unleashed fury in the North.
