In 1625, the government of France sent priests called "Black Robes" to New France (French People of Canada). There Goal was to convert Native Americans from their own beleifs to Christianity. They did this by giving Natives who did convert to Christianity more rights and more suplies. The Blackrobes began a new immigration of Catholic priests.

The underground railroad was not a literal railroad, it was instead a network of secret paths and locations used in an attempt to free the black people from slavery in the states. They did this by transporting black people safely across into Canada where there was no slavery. At that time, there were many black people immigrating to Canada due to the Underground Ralroad.

Following the war started the great migration of Canada from Brittan. One reason why many may have immigrated was because after tha war, Canada became a very desireable country to live in.

The Irish begin their immigration to Canada due to the famine from lack of Potato production in Ireland. It was a very unfertile time for the Irish crops so they moved to Canada where land was very ferile.

The Chinese head tax was a one time payment that chinese immigrants had to pay before being able to stay in the country. The head tax started in 1885 with a tax of 50$ per person. The goal of the head tax was to suppress the chinese fron coming/staying in Canada.

The chinese head tax begun in 1885 and ended in 1923. In that span of 38 years, the population of Chinese who wanted to move to Canada were forced to pay a hefty tax. 50$ per person in 1885, but then raised to 500$ in 1903 in an effort to make sure that the Chinese do not become too populated in Canada.
