  • Canada joins the United Nations

    Canada joins the United Nations
    On January 14th 1945 Canada Joined the United Nations, the United Nations is an organization of independent states made to promote international human rights, security and peace. The United Nations goals are:
    • to maintain international peace and security;
    • to develop friendly relations among nations; and
    • to achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character, and in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights.
  • Canadian International Development Agency

    Canadian International Development Agency
    Canada creates Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) to support international cooperation. CIDA was made to supply foreign aid programs in developing countries.
    CIDA's priorities are
    1. Social development
    2. Environmental sustainability
    3. Governance and
    4. Economic well-being
    All humans have the right to basic necessities and care.
  • Rwanda Genocide Prevention

    Rwanda Genocide Prevention
    Canada Sends Lieutenant Romeo Dallaire to Rwanda to aid in genocide prevention between the Hutu’s and the Tutsi’s. In 1994 there was a outbreak in war between races the Canadian forces stepped in to try and stop the genocide from happening.
    Many things that happened in Rwanda violated human rights such as; rape, dismemberment of limbs, beheadings.

    After the earthquake in Haiti there were many people in haiti who needed help. Canada sends troops to Haiti for peacekeeping earthquake relif, along with the troops Canada also sends $5 million to help with rebuilding of the comunity.
    In Canada we believe that everyone has the right to basic necessities and to be safe.

    Up to the 2014 Winter Olympics Canada trys to convice russia to get rid of their laws against homosexuality. John Baird Foreign affair minister writes a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government to uphold human rights about sexual orientation, not only to foreign visitors but to Russian citizens as well. Part of Canadian human rights is you have the right to be who you are and express your sexual orientation.
