  • Rise of Hitler

    Rise of Hitler
    On January 30th 1933 Hitler rose to power by becoming the chancellor of Germany. Thanks to this he became part of the Nazi party and a fascist dictator who wanted to bring back Germany's pride, that was taken away by the Treaty of Versailles. This is connected to Canada because they didn't know that he would later start World War II.

    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust started after Hitlers reign in 1933 and lasted for about 12 years. It was an escape route from how bad their government was doing, so instead they started an annihilation of the Jews by taking them to concentration camps and exterminating them by gas chambers, exaustion from labour. At the end an estimation of 5,709,329 Jews died. This effected Canada because while it was going on Jewish people needed a place to stay and Canada didn't want to get involved so they turned them away.

    This is significant to Canada because at this time the Dionne Quintuplets were special, being the first Quintuplets to live. No one in the world had ever expected this event to have happened
  • Failure of the League of Nations

    Failure of the League of Nations
    On the 7th of March 1936 Hitler brought in troops to the Rhineland, which violated the treaty of Versailles, when it happend the League of Nations didn't do anything about it. Which if dealt with right then could have stopped the following events going into World War II.

    Battle of Britain

    In 1940, Germany was bombing many major cities such as London to invade into Britian. They wanted to take over the English Channel. So Canada joined in with Britian to fight along side them.The fight continued even though the Germans knew that they lost so he postponed it. It was Germany's first defeat.
  • Battle of Dieppe

    Battle of Dieppe
    At this time Canada landed on one of the french beaches of a city called Dieppe. When they arrived they were being waited for by the Germans who shot at them which killed 913 people and about 2000 were made as prisoners, out of 5000 people. Canadians had realized that they messed up and had to come up with a better plan to go against the Germans.

    D-Day
    At this time the allied forces had launched a new invasion on the beaches of Normandy, At this time the Germans thought that their target was going to be Pas De Calais but later realized it was Normandy. It was important to canada since it was the battle to begin Liberation of Europe and it was a success.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    At this time both Hitler and Mussolini were dead.So Germany was pushed back by the allied forces and thus started the Liberation of the countries that were taken over and curropted by the Nazi's. This was important to Canada since they helped it all happen.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki
    On August 6th and 9th 1945 the USA dropped bombs on two major cities in Japan to finalize the ending of World War II since they wouldn't surrender. this together has killed over 245, 000 people and is the only usage of atomic bombs in history.

    6 days after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan surrendered thanks to the allied forces.
