    Proclamation of 1763
    After they won the French Indian war, they were given rights to land. The land was near the Appalachian mountains. The Proclamation of 1763 made it so that American colonist were not allowed to live in the west Appalachian region. source: www.ushistory.org
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The British Parliament decided to give the colonists a tax. They decided to give a tax on molasses. Molasses was very important to the colonists because it was a main ingredient in their rum, and it was their main sweetener. This tax made molasses cost less than it usually did, but still angered the colonists. This being because the British Parliament was taxing them on something that they didn't often tax them on.     Stamp act
    The British Parliament decided to make a tax. They made it so that every document had to have a certain stamp, that could only be bought from tax officials on it. The colonists strongly disliked this rule and ignored it.
  • Quartering Act of 1765

    Quartering Act of 1765
    This act required the people of the colonies to house British soldiers. They didn't have the right to tell them no, they couldn't be in their house. This being because it was the law and the soldiers had the right to be there. Source: www.ushistory.org

    Charles Townshend was a person in the House Of Commons. He got parliament to issue more acts and new taxes in 1767. One of the acts was Declaratory Act. This act made it so that there would be no taxation without representation. Source: www.ushistory.org
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    On March 3, 1770. A group of approximately 60 angry men, came up to a guard that was standing and guarding the Custom House. They harassed him, he called upon other guards for help. Then the other guards came and stood with him. The soldiers fired their weapons without command and killed and injured many in the crowd. source: www.ushistory.org

    The Boston Tea Party
    There started to be more and more taxes and the colonists didn't like this at all. Then there was a tax on tea and the people were done with it. The governor who's name was Thomas Hutchinson, let three ships that were carrying a lot of tea enter the Boston Harbor. Before the taxes were taken, angry towns people got on the ships and dumped 342 chests of tea out of the ships. source: www.ushistory.org

    Intolerable Acts
    Since the Boston tea party happened, things needed to be handled. People were unhappy about all the taxes and they were angry. More things besides tea would be spilled. So they made more acts. There would be no more trading in Boston. Boston was completely shut down. source: www.ushistory.org
