A little after 10, Booth has his pistol in one hand and his knife in the other. He is waiting for there to be minimal actors on the stage.

Harry Hawk enters the stage. He says the comical line and the crowd bursts into laughter. Booth then shoots Lincoln in the back of the head. He then jumps on the stage and shouts, "Sic semper tyrannis!"(Swanson 43).
