    Done in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. With Spain wanting to seek out the newly found riches in the east, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella paid for Christopher Columbus to make the voyage. Columbus believed that he could sail west from Spain, and make it to China. Unaware that the Americas lay across the Atlantic, Columbus reached a Carribean island about two months into his journey thinking he had his the Asian island knkown as the Indies.

    Along with the travels of Columbus, 1492 also contained the expullsion of some 200,000 jews and others from Spain. The expullsion was part of the Spanish inquisition, they were afraid that if they stayed, that there would be more converts to Judaism. This is important because it is yet another attempt to get rid of the Jewish people, as well as others.

This is an important battle because it was the downfall of the great Napoleon Bonaparte.
