Welcome Into The Clique
Exposition:
Massie Block: She's still gorgeous, trendsetting, and ruling The Clique. Massie decides to throw a Halloween party but has to do it with CLAIRE.
Dylan Marvil: She spends her time kissing up to Massie and slurping down slimming shakes.
Kristen: She has a scholarship to OCD. Her grades are going down. Her mom might not let her go to the party.
Alicia: The Clique is falling apart, so one day she take over.
Claire: She's still out of The Clique, but wants in. -
Revenge
Rising Action: Massie has always been the most popular girl in Octavian Country Day School (OCD) and she probably always will be. She finds out that Becca and Liz are throwing a Halloween party, so she decides to host her own Halloween party on the same day. Massie KNOWS that everyone will come to her party, and starts giving out invitations to EVERYONE. -
Trouble
Rising Action: Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen go to school in Devil costumes. They purposely forget to pick up
Claire's costume. The devil costumes are against dress-code, so the principle of the school calls them to the office. The principle of the school calls their parents. They are in big trouble. -
Party Time at The Block Estate!
Rising Action: Kristen's mom found out about what happened at school, and doesn't let her go to the party. Massie pretends like it's no big deal Kristen can's go, but it is a big deal. They were the two who worked the hardest to plan the party. -
We Reunite!
Rising Action: While at the party, The Clique notices somebody new. It's Olivia Ryan! She was out all semester because she got plastic surgery on her face. Alicia used to be friends with Olivia, so they are happy to be reunited again. Massie isn't very happy because she doesn't want Alicia to slip out of The Clique. -
Uniforms!
Rising Action: OCD declares that the students will be required to start wearing uniforms. The principle decides that the students can design their own uniforms. A fashion show will be held where all of the students wear their uniforms and the audience votes for the winner. Massie is on a team with Claire, Alicia, and Dylan. Alicia is on a team with Olivia. -
The Contest
Climax: There are five teams going on stage, but obviously the contest is between Alicia's team and Massie's team. Both do a terrific job, but there can only be one team that wins. Everybody in the room is impatiently waiting to hear the winning team. They are silent when they hear the principle speak. She says, "And the winning team is... ALICIA RIVERA AND OLIVIA RYAN." Massie is furious when she find out that they cheated! -
It's Alright!
Falling Action: After Alicia and Olivia won the uniform contest, Massie is infuriated, but she tries not to show it. She tells the rest of The Clique that it's no big deal. Massie's friends don't try to hide their feelings. They show that they're angry. -
We'll Get Revenge!
Falling Action: Massie promises The Clique that they'll get revenge on Alicia. Massie's friends want to get revenge right away. Massie plans well and is smart, so she wants to wait until they know excacly what they are going to do. -
Am I In?
Resolution: Claire has always wanted to be accepted into The Clique. When Massie tells Claire that Alicia is "out," Claire asks, "Does that mean that I'm in?" Massie says, "Yes." Claire is tremendously excited and is thankful that Massie finally understands her. -
Direct Characterization
"The new caramel-colored highlights in her dark hair brought out the amber flecks in her eyes and made them sparkle, just like her stylist, Jakkob, had promised" (Harrison, 1). This portrays how Massie looks. It also shows that she always tries to always look her best. -
Indirect Characterization
"Alicia seemed more into having fun with Olivia than making fun of her, which Massie found utterly puzzling" (Harrison, 105) This describes something about Massie AND Alicia. It shows that Massie usually makes fun of people, which makes her unkind. It also shows that Alicia is usually nicer to people. If Alicia was mean too, she would've made fun of Olivia along with Massie. -
Indirect Characterization
"Claire wanted to hang around Massie, but was scared she wouldn't accept her" (Harrison, 57). This shows that Claire is shy and that she doesn't want to upset anyone. -
Direct Characterization
"I can't believe the party is tonight! We've worked so hard for this and now it's time for it to pay off" (Harrison, 39). This shows that Massie is a hard worker. She'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants.
