Before the war (1770- 1918)

  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston tea party of 1773 occurred at midnight on the 16th of December when patriot leader Samuel Adams organised a group of about 40 Massachusetts to dress up as Mohawk Indians and to raid 3 ships sent from britain filled with 342 chests of tea and dump it in Boston Harbor. The group started due to the british tea act of 1773 with increased tax on tea. The tea averaged to be valued at $18,000 that was dumped in Boston Harbor.
  • American Revolution

    The American revolution was a nearly a decade long fight for the rights of American Colonists and independence from Britain. For over a decade before the American Revolution, American Colonists were fighting about their lack of rights and government representatives in parliament. Fights occurred against the raised taxes set by the British and American Colonists demanded the same rights as other British subjects.
  • Australian Colonisation

    After the announcement of American Independence occurred, Britain had to find a new place for british convicts to go to. Discovered by Captain James Cook 18 year prior Australia was the perfect uninhabited place to set up a colony and send convicts to. The arrival of the first fleet was the start of Australian Colonisation and a new place for Britain to send their convicts to.
  • French Revolution Begins

    Starting a decade long fight for the people to overthrow the monarchy and controlling the government. Which started when France went bankrupt due to King Louis XVI and his ancestors tremendous amount of spending,along with France’s involvement in the American revolution. Due to the bankruptcy of France, King Louis XVI tried to increase taxes but was denied the money to do so. The French Revolution when from 1789 to 1899 and had many deaths during the French Revolution including King Louis XVI.
  • Industrial Revolution

    The Industrial Revolution changed the face of the british economy with the discovery of steam, canals and factories. Before the Industrial Revolution many things such as farming and textile produce were done at homes, small shops and farms. With the decrease of people needed to work on the newly technological farms people were flocking from the countryside to small towns and cities for work. With the demand for steam; people were sent to the mines to mine for coal and metals.
  • Invention of Morse Code

    The invention of morse code was an outstanding invention as it allowed communication to be used without having to send letters, smoke signals and drum-beats. Morse code was developed in the 1830’s and 1840’s though it wasn't used for far distances until 1844 a few years after it had been invented.
  • California Gold Rush

    On the 24th of January 1846, gold nuggets were discovered in Sacramento Valley, California by James Wilson Marshall. News spread quickly and people were flocking by sea or land to get their hands on some gold. The news was tried to keep quiet but somehow the news got out quite quickly.
  • Eureka Stockade

    The increase in gold mining taxes and gold permits irritated the miners with the lack of gold being mined. The miner worked together to set up meeting to stop or reduce the price for gold permits and the taxes for finding gold. There were many fight about this one happened on the 29th of November which ended in some miners lighting their gold permits on fire. The final fight lasted 20 minute on the 3rd of December 1854.
  • American Civil War

    The Civil War begins after years of tension from the southern and northern states of America over slavery. The south relied on black slaves labor to farm crops like cotton and tobacco whereas in the north, the manufacturing and industry was well developed. The Civil War was a fight occuring around free and slave states, the south with slaves and the north without. The Civil War ended on the 1st of January 1863 when Abraham Lincoln declared that slaves were free in all states of America.
  • Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

    Franz Ferdinand and his wife were both paying a visit to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to inspect the imperial armed forces. They were driving in an open car when they were an intended victim of a serbian who throw a bomb at the car but it bounced of the car and hit an officer instead. Franz later when to visit the injured officer when he and his wife were shot at a junction. Franz and his wife died on their wedding day the 28th of June.
