President Kennedy had just learned about this plan nine days after his election. He had reluctantly approved of the plan. Tensions between Russia and the US had grown exponentionally due to their aid towards Cuba.

As Cubans rejoiced this defeat over "North American mercenaries." JFK had to pay $53 million to get our remaining exiled military forces. Soviets were further hated because Cuban victory was guaranteed with their weapons.

    Soviet ships that were heading to Cuba were halted, This was done by the US. Because they didn't want any further Communist aid towards Cubans. This brought tensions past the line between the Soviet Union and the US.

    After the Soviet Union had gotten tired of being halted in the sea. So they had proposed to remove the weapons from Cuba in return for no invasion of Cuba. As the US agreed to remove missiles from Turkey, but both leaders of the countries recieved criticism for this event. This had lightened tensions between the countries but they were still not on good terms and at the brink of war. The former exiled supporters had switched to the GOP and Castro closed doors for flights to and from Miami.
