Battles of the 'Murican revolution

  • Battle at Lexington and Concord

    The battle was fought when the British were marching to concord to take the weapons cache from the colonists, but Paul Revere and other midnight riders sounded the alarm. Militiamen woke up and began to flank and attack the British soldiers which forced the, to retreat.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The battle of Bunker hill was fought while the British soldiers were surrounding the hills of Boston and the colonists lead by William Prescott attacked them by surprise. The British had "won" the battle, but suffered severe casualties. The colonists while they lost did do heavy damage to British forces.
  • Battle of Quebec

    Under colonel Benedict Arnold and general Montgomery the Colonists tried to capture the Canadian city of Quebec, but it failed resulting in the first major loss fo the colonists in the American revolution.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    British General John Burgoyne first attacked American troops lead by Benedict Arnold and Horacio Gates 14 days earlier and won, but when he went back and attacked again at bemis heights he lost and was forced to surrender. This was a major turning point because it was when the French decided that the American cause was worth fighting for.
  • The Battle of Cowpens

    American troops under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan routed British troops under lieutenant colonel Banastre Tarleton and inflicted heavy casualties which was a major turning point in the southern campaign
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    General George Washington lead the colonists and newly allied French against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and his British forces. Washington used the frenches navy to block them by sea and land locked them using his troops. They fired artillery and bombarded them for weeks until they finally surrendered on October 17, 1781.
