    Battles at Lexington and Concord
    British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an weapons storage. Paul Revere along with others sounded the alarm, and Minute Men began organizing to ambush the British. The British were eventually pushed out and retreated. The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the American Revolutionary War.

    Patriot army attempted to take over Quebec, a British occupied city. They hoped to gain support for the American cause but the attack failed. The Battle of Quebec was the first major defeat of the Revolutionary War for the Americans.

    The American army was defeated by the British during Bunker Hill in Massachusetts. The colonies were young and not very well trained. They lost a lot of lives during this battle, but it turned out to be a good thing. The colonies confidence was boosted as it was shown that they could do some major damage to the enemy.

    These battles were 18 days apart and acted as a turning point in the revolution. The British had a small victory over the colonies early on and later attacked them again, leading to the defeat of the British forces. This American win proved to the French that they could defeat the British and finally gained the support of the French government.

    The colonies had the worst defat of the war with the surrender of the army. The townspeople made a deal with the British and said if they left the town and the people now, then they would give their loyalty to the winner of the war. Congress made this deal with the British because they were going to arm the African people and allow them to fight with the colonies.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This is one of the most critical battles of the war. Washington blocked the British escape of Yorktown by land and the French navy blocked their escape from sea. Yorktown was completely surrounded and after three weeks of fighting, the British finally surrendered.
